Kohima: In the latest update, the situation turned tense in the Mon district, Nagaland following the killing of 13 civilians by the Assam Rifles on Saturday evening.

The angry protestors with guns in hands surrounded the Assam rifles camp and set fire to a portion of it on Sunday evening, sources quoted.

Earlier the day, the Home Commissioner banned the internet connection in the Mon district with immediate effect as a precautionary measure.

The prohibition was imposed in the Mon district through an order issued by Home Commissioner Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha.

Moreover, the Hornbill festival was also shut down due to the incident.
