Digital Desk: In a major anti-drug operation early this morning, police from multiple districts intercepted a creative smuggling attempt at Nazira's Simoluguri Railway Junction.
The joint operation, involving teams from Jorhat, Mariani, and Simoluguri, led to the recovery of a large doll that served as a sophisticated decoy for illicit substances.
Acting on a tip-off, police launched the raid and discovered eight packets containing 77 grams of drugs hidden inside the toy.
This unusual tactic highlights the evolving and desperate methods adopted by drug traffickers to evade security measures.
The suspect, identified as Nsanthang Konyak from Purana Bazaar in Dimapur, Nagaland, reportedly transported the narcotics to the junction via the Avadh Assam Express.
The drugs were seized during on-site, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the smuggling network.
