The Multiplex Association of India said on social media that they had postponed National Cinema Day "on request from various stakeholders and in order to maximise participation."
Digital Desk: National Cinema Day, which was earlier announced for September 16, has now been postponed to September 23, and the rousing box office success of Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, is thought to be the cause of the same. It had been earlier noted that many multiplex chains would be selling tickets for as little as Rs 75 on National Cinema Day.

Since theatre attendance has surged since the premiere of Brahmastra and the movie has been drawing in sizable crowds, it appears that the theatre owners are trying to maximise their profits.
Only Gangubai Kathiawadi, The Kashmir Files, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 managed to make big box office gains in 2022, making it a dismal year for Hindi films. Both the media and the public were taken aback by Brahmastra's most recent box office results. Brahmastra has grossed over Rs 143 crore in the local market and almost Rs 65 crore in foreign markets in the four days since its release.
The tickets will be available for Rs 75 on 4,000 screens across theatre chains, including PVR, INOX, Cinépolis, Carnival, Miraj, Citypride, Asian, Mukta A2, Movietime, Wave, M2K, Delite, and many others.
"India has a thriving domestic film industry and has had one of the sharpest recoveries in the film exhibition market globally," said their statement. On the strength of international and domestic tentpoles that connected with the Indian public, the first quarter of FY '23 saw remarkable figures among theatre operators. Some of the biggest domestic hits, including KGF: Chapter 2, RRR, Vikram, and Bhool Bhulaiya 2, as well as the Hollywood blockbusters Doctor Strange and Top Gun: Maverick, were released during the third quarter.
