Digital Desk: Six determined educators from India's Northeast are slated to be honoured with the coveted National Teachers' Award 2023. These six educators stand out among the 50 government school teachers chosen for this prestigious award for their dedication to developing young minds.


The illustrious recipients will be honoured during a special ceremony scheduled for September 5, 2023, at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu will personally present the prizes, recognising the transformative impact these educators have had on their students' lives.


Each laureate will get a certificate of merit, a cash award of Rs 50,000/-, and a distinguished silver medal to show the nation's appreciation for their outstanding accomplishments.


The prize has been awarded to six noteworthy educators from the Northeast region:


  • Netai Chandra Dey, student of Ramkrishna Mission School in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district.


  • Ningthoujam Binoy Singh: Instructor at Chingmei Upper Primary School in Manipur's Bishnupur area.


  • Lalthianghlima, of Diakkawn High School in Kolasib, Mizoram.


  • Madhav Singh, of Alpha English Higher Secondary School in Ri Bhoi, Meghalaya.


  • Kumud Kalita, of Pathsala Senior Secondary School in Muguria, Bajali, Assam.


  • Dr. Purna Bahadur Chettri, Principal of the Government Senior Secondary School in Soreng, Sikkim.


These educators have been selected for their commitment to their profession as well as for their creative teaching strategies that have improved the learning process for countless students.
