Dibrugarh: On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday celebrations, a mega fair was organized in Tingkhang under Dibrugarh district. A huge crowd was witnessed at the “Sewa Aur Samarpan Abhiyaan” held at Tingkhang to celebrate PM Modi’s 71st birthday. Apart from “Sewa Aur Samarpan”, a ‘Nav Bharat Mela’ was also organized to mark the auspicious day.
A two day cultural programme was organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and Dibrugarh district administration, to mark this special occasion.
On the first day of the event, popular Assamese singers Ridip Ringkit and Madhav Ranjan took over the stage to entertain the crowd. While on the second day, singer Bipin Chawdang mesmerized the crowd with his foot tapping popular Assamese songs.
This two day cultural event saw a gathering of hundreds of people where the covid protocols were little or not at all observed as per reports.
Footage from the event shows people jostling to get a glimpse of politicians, singers and others with hardly anybody appearing to be wearing masks.
A video has gone viral on social media of the event, which is now creating a buzz among the netizens. This huge mass gathering on the occasion of PM Modi's birthday celebration even when the Covid pandemic is still wreaking havoc across the globe, has been vehemently condemned by many on social media.
