Digital Desk: The last rituals of renowned artist Nil Pawan Baruah will be held at the Nabagraha Cemetery in Guwahati with full state honours on Saturday.

The body of Baruah will be taken from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) to his residence in Beltola.

At around 3.15 pm on Friday, renowned artist Nil Pawan Baruah passed away.

The renowned artist had been undergoing treatment at the GMCH for some time and died today.

Nil Pawan Baruah was born on June 1, 1936, in Teok, Jorhat, Assam. He enrolled in the renowned Shantiniketan in 1961.

He began teaching at Guwahati Art College in 1966. The renowned painter later founded the Charu-Karu Kala Parishad in Charaideo, Assam.

The Assam state government awarded the renowned artist with the "Assam Sourav" award in 2021.
