CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that a new SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) would be implemented in the State from Thrusday. The seven districts of the State, Biswanath, Goalpara, Golaghat, Morigaon, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, and Sonitpur, are in the total containment zone. The Covid-19 situation in these seven districts is slowly improving due to lockdown. According to the sources, the Health department hinted that the authorities are likely to relax the Covid-19 protocols slightly in the seven districts currently under the containment zone.
On July 18, the Health department detected 101 fresh covid-19 cases in Golaghat, 46 in Biswanath, 28 in Goalpara, 50 in Morigaon, 85 in Jorhat, 98 in Lakhimpur, and 70 in Sonitpur. Health Minister Keshab Mahanta informed that two lakh vaccine doses are in stock, and one lakh doses have been received. More vaccines are to arrive soon in the State today. He also said to inoculate 1,18,713 doses of vaccines on Saturday.
