Digital Desk: The night ferry service between Guwahati and North Guwahati has been suspended, according to reports surfaced on Friday.

According to reports, night ferry services between Guwahati and North Guwahati will be suspended from Saturday.

The decision was made by the Assam Inland Water Transport (IWT) Department due to the unexpected rise in the water levels of the River Brahmaputra.

The ferry service is reported to be halted from 6:30 p.m. The suspension of services will be in effect until further orders are issued.

It should be noted that Kamrup (Metro) is one of four districts in Assam that have been impacted by the first flood, according to the Assam Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Wednesday. Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, and Cachar are the three districts.

Floods have reportedly affected around 21,000 people across these four districts. A total of 19 villages under five revenue circles are currently underwater, and the deluge has also affected 1,787 animals.
