Jorhat: Night super service will be started from Majuli to Lakhimpur via Boginadi, announced Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday.


The chief minister announced it while his visit to Nimatighat to re-evaluate the situation.


“All the single-engine boats have been stopped. Since September 8, we have been trying to improve the situation,” said CM.


“I have also ordered to run Ro-pax ferry for the convenience of the commuters,” added CM.


Ro-pax service will be available three times a day- at 9 am, 11.30 am, and 3 pm, said CM.


Further, CM informed that two ships would reach tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.


“Government has set some rules for the commuters, and they should follow it. Moreover, from September 22 onwards, passengers can book their tickets through a mobile application,” said CM.


Reportedly, a total of eight ferries will run in Majuli for easy availability so that people don’t face any problems in future.
