The BJP lashed out at Nitish Kumar on the second day of protests, causing a commotion within the legislature for the second day in a row over the Saran hooch tragedy.

Digital Desk: Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, announced on Friday that no compensation will be paid to anyone who died after drinking. "We have been appealing-if you drink, you will die; those who advocate for drinking will not benefit you," Kumar said today in a speech to the state assembly.

This comes as 53 people died in Bihar's Saran district as a result of imbibing spurious booze. Earlier, BJP leaders demanded Nitish Kumar's resignation after he declared, "Jo piyega woh marega" (those who consume spurious booze will die).

Some BJP MLAs demonstrated in the State Assembly on Thursday over the hooch fatalities, holding banners and raising slogans against the government. The BJP lashed out at Nitish Kumar on the second day of protests, causing a commotion within the legislature for the second day in a row over the Saran hooch tragedy.

On Friday, a group of BJP leaders will also meet with Governor Paghu Chauhan.

Meanwhile, while a political brawl developed in the state over the Chhapra incident, four persons were killed in Bihar's Siwan after allegedly imbibing counterfeit whiskey. It is possible that the death toll will rise.

The sale and consumption of alcohol was banned in Bihar by the Nitish Kumar government in April 2016.
