The Assam Women's Basketball Team was also awarded a bronze medal for their exceptional dedication and teamwork. 

Digital Desk: In an array of sports, Assam succeeded finishing third in the medal standings at the "North East Games 2024," held in Nagaland. Commencing on March 18 and ending on Saturday, March 23, were the games. 

Their incredible collection included 40 gold medals and 50 silver medals, showcasing the Assamese contingent's depth of talent and perseverance. The boxing team from Assam was outstanding; they took home four gold, five silver, and six bronze medals.

In the ring, wrestlers from Assam displayed incredible talent and perseverance. Pritima Khaklary won a silver medal in the 53kg division; Domoni Uzir and Anisha Basumutary won bronze in the 55kg and 59kg classifications, respectively.

In the 57 kg class, Ashik Pingua won another silver medal; in the 61 kg and 79 kg weight classes, Basanta Patgiri and Ranjoy Daimary added bronze medals. Assam's wrestling medal total now stands at two silver and four bronze after these additions.

The Assam Olympic Association (AOA) commended the athletes from Assam for their great feat. Lakhya Konwar, General Secretary of the AOA, expressed his delight with the athletes' performance, given that 90% of the athletes were beginners from Assam.

"In order to develop the next generation of athletes, just 10% of seasoned athletes were chosen to represent the state. I have to admit, the young boys and girls have truly performed brilliantly. 

The hosts Nagaland finished in second place with 48 gold, 42 silver, and 44 bronze, while Manipur led the medal count with as many as 52 gold, 38 silver, and 40 bronze.
