Northeast India is likely to have week-long weather activity, with rain falling across the majority of the region

Digital Desk: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall for the northeastern region over the next five days.

According to the weather bulletin released by the Regional Meteorological Centre, light to moderate rain is expected across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Northeast India is likely to have week-long weather activity, with rain falling across the majority of the region. Activity may begin today and continue for a week or longer. Elevated regions may have severe weather with wide distribution, whereas other areas fare significantly better. The region is anticipated to have its first traditional pre-monsoon spell, complete with thunderous storms and lightning strikes. The majority of the weather action occurs in the late evening and night hours.

The chief amount of rainfall recorded at various stations indicates the likelihood of significant precipitation in the region. The IMD has issued warnings for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds up to 30-40 kmph in isolated places across the region.

Residents are advised to stay indoors and take necessary precautions to mitigate any potential risks associated with the inclement weather conditions.
