Dhaka/New Delhi: With the India battling a skyrocketing surge in covid cases, breaking global records, Bangladesh has suspended the entry of people from India via land route for two weeks beginning today.

Bangaldesh’s Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said yesterday that passenger travel is temporarily halted, however, trade will continue.

International flights, including those between India and Bangladesh, have been suspended since April 14 in response to the rapid increase in Covid-19 cases in Bangladesh.

After reporting a lowering of Covid-19 fatalities in the previous four days, the number of deaths surpassed 100 in a single day on Saturday.

With 101 deaths on Saturday, Bangladesh’s Covid-19 death toll has risen to 11,053 while 657,452 people infected with the virus have been recovered till date.
