Digital Desk: The recent demise of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari has stirred controversy, with the superintendent of Banda jail, where Ansari was held, receiving a death threat. Ansari, a prominent figure with a complex reputation, passed away in a government hospital after his health deteriorated while in custody.

Shortly after Ansari's death, an unidentified individual made a threatening call to the superintendent's phone, prompting immediate concern. Banda Additional Superintendent of Police, Lakshmi Niwas Mishra, confirmed the incident and stated that security measures for the jail superintendent, Viresh Raj Sharma, have been escalated.

Sharma reported that the threat came in the form of a phone call during the night of March 28 and 29, from an unknown person using a landline. This development adds another layer of intrigue to Ansari's death, which was initially attributed to cardiac arrest but has since sparked suspicions and demands for a thorough investigation.

Opposition parties, fueled by Ansari's family's allegations of possible foul play, have called for a magisterial inquiry. Meanwhile, Ansari's funeral in Ghazipur saw tight security measures amid a large turnout of mourners.

As authorities delve into the circumstances surrounding Ansari's demise, the death threat against the jail superintendent underscores the tension and scrutiny surrounding this high-profile case.
