Digital Desk: A video of two Turkish nurses going beyond and above to safeguard newborns during the 7.7 magnitude earthquake has gone viral. The video was captured by a CCTV camera at a hospital in Gaziantep. When the earthquake tremors were felt, the nurses, identified as Devlet Nizam and Gazwl Caliskan, decided to protect the newborns in the neonatal critical care unit rather than evacuate the facility.

As soon as things start to shake up, the nurses rush into the intensive care unit. The two are seen securely clutching the baby incubators. Their efforts kept the incubators from collapsing.

Fatma Sahin, a Turkish lawmaker, uploaded the video on Twitter.

The 7.8 magnitude quake on Monday, which was followed by many intense aftershocks across Turkey and Syria, is the world's seventh deadliest natural disaster this century, surpassing the 31,000 killed by a quake in neighbouring Iran in 2003.

It is Turkey's deadliest earthquake since 1939, with a death toll of 24,617 so far. Over 3,500 people have died in Syria, where death figures have not been updated since Friday.
