Digital Desk: Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has reached her first Olympic semifinal in the 50kg category, securing a spot after defeating Ukraine's Oksana Livach 7-5 in a competitive bout on Tuesday. At 29 years old, Phogat is aiming for her first Olympic medal in her third attempt, having previously stunned Olympic champion Yui Susaki before overcoming Livach.

In her previous Olympic appearances, Phogat did not secure a medal. Her 2023 season was disrupted due to her involvement in protests against former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, during which she was a key figure and spent nights protesting on the streets of Jantar Mantar.
