Chanu, a silver medallist from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, is set to compete in her third Olympic Games in Paris. Initially announced to take a five-month break, she missed several qualification events but managed to recover and maintain her competitive edge. Her career highlights include winning gold at the 2017 World Championships in Anaheim and becoming the first Indian in 22 years to achieve this feat. She set a world record in the clean and jerk category with a lift of 119 kg at the 2020 Asian Championships in China.

At the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Chanu clinched the gold medal with a combined lift of 201 kg, also setting a personal best in the snatch event at 88 kg. Her relentless dedication to training and competition underscores her aspirations for further success at future World Championships and the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
