New Delhi: Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, including the party’s MPs, staged a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue inside the Parliament premises on the first day of the winter session in demand of the repeal of the three farm laws.

Moreover, leaders of several opposition parties also attended a meeting called by Kharge to ‘create a consensus’ over the issues to be raised in the winter session of the Parliament.

Notably, on the first day of the winter session of Parliament, the Government of India is likely to move the ‘Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021’ in the Rajya Sabha after the Lok Sabha passes it. On Friday, the ‘Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021’ was circulated among Rajya Sabha members.

On November 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the withdrawal of the three farm laws. Moreover, the government said that the repeal of the bill would be taken up on priority. The bill was cleared by the Union cabinet last week.

The winter session of the Parliament will be concluded on December 23.
