Digital Desk: 33 opposition lawmakers were suspended from the Lok Sabha for interrupting proceedings on Monday (18th December 2023), including Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, DMK MPs T R Baalu and Dayanidhi Maran, and TMC MP Saugata Roy.
While 30 were suspended for the rest of the Winter Session, three—K Jayakumar, Vijay Vasanth, and Abdul Khaleque—were suspended pending the Privileges Committee's report. The latter three had scaled the Speaker's podium to shout slogans.
As the government-opposition showdown in Parliament continues, 49 more opposition MPs were suspended on Tuesday, bringing the total number of suspensions in the winter session to 141.
