Digital Desk: PCB representatives expressed frustration at rumors of India captain Rohit Sharma's possible exclusion from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 opening ceremony in Pakistan on 19th February by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Rohit Sharma was expected to be present for both the captain photo shoot and initial press meeting before Pakistan's tournament.
India is set to play Champions Trophy match against Dubai beginning with their Pakistan game on February 23. However, BCCI has neither confirmed nor denied whether Rohit will join the opening ceremony. News about India possibly omitting Pakistan's name from tournament jersey has caused additional disputes.
The PCB representative who remained anonymous criticized that BCCI is making cricket political. By mixing politics with cricket BCCI creates unnecessary harm to the sport. They have declined all travel to Pakistan and rejected the opening ceremony invitation while reports indicate their players will not display Pakistan's name on their jerseys. We trust the ICC will take action against India's decision to damage Pakistan's rights as host country.
