The footage was captured at Hanoi International Airport, Vietnam, where Brigette's hand reached out and appeared to smack President Macron's mouth when the plane's doors opened.
The incident occurred when the couple arrived in Vietnam for a tour in Southeast Asia.
The 47-year-old French President appeared shocked and quickly turned to wave at the cameras waiting outside of the aircraft when he noticed that the doors of the aircraft were already open.
However, the couple walked down the staircase together, with Emmanuel Macron extending his arm to his wife.
A source close to Macron said that it was a "moment of closeness" and "playful teasing".
Macron has a long-standing relationship with his wife Brigette Marie-Claude Macron. He was only 15 years old when he began dating Brigette more than 30 years ago.
She was then a mother of three and also his French literature teacher.
