Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Calgary, Canada to attend the 51st G7 Summit, set against the backdrop of escalating Israel-Iran tensions.
As part of his four-day trip covering Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia, PM Modi is scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and other prominent leaders from the G7 nations and guest countries.
In addition to PM Modi, the summit will see the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and leaders from Australia, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and South Korea, who have been invited as special invitees.
Prior to arriving in Canada, PM Modi visited Cyprus, where he held discussions with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.
The G7 Summit takes place against a backdrop of escalating global tensions, including the ongoing armed conflicts between Israel and Iran, as well as Russia and Ukraine.
This visit marks PM Modi's first multilateral appearance after Operation Sindoor, India's counterterrorism operation against Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Meanwhile, PM Modi's Canada tour coincided with US President Donald Trump cutting short his G7 participation to attend a National Security Council meeting in Washington.
