Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the first phase of the Kashi Vishwanath corridor at the holy city Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, which has been constructed at the cost of Rs 339 crores. The newly made corridor that connects river Ganga with Kashi Vishwanath temple, will provide easy access to the devotees, cutting the time between the two points.

After arriving at his parliamentary constituency, PM Modi offered prayers at Kaal Bhairav temple and then took a holy dip in Ganga from where he collected the holy water to pour at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and also planted a Rudraksha tree at the temple premises.

Prior to this, PM Modi greeted the workers involved in building the project with a flower in a gesture to acknowledge their hard work. He also sat with them for a group photograph and had a meal.

Moreover, at around 6 pm PM, Modi will witness the Ganga aarti on a Ro-Ro vessel at the Ganga ghat.

PM Modi, during the two-day visit to the holy city, will participate in a conclave with the chief ministers of Assam, Goa, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura and Uttarakhand, along with Deputy chief ministers from Bihar and Nagaland.

Notably, this inauguration event by the saffron party might help the party to strengthen its status during the upcoming UP elections.
