Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 11 government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu. The inauguration program will be conducted through video conference. The event is scheduled to take place at 4 PM today.

Moreover, the new campus of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT) in Tamil Nadu will be inaugurated today. The medical colleges will be inaugurated across the southern state. At the same time, the new campus of the central institute will be unfurled in the capital city Chennai. 

PM Modi has announced the news through his Twitter handle. Taking to the Twitter, he said that the new medical colleges will "increase health infrastructure and provide inexpensive healthcare to the individuals of Tamil Nadu."

As per sources, the medical colleges have been constructed at an estimated worth of nearly ₹4,000 crores. The Union government has provided approximately ₹2,415 crores, whereas the state has funded the remaining share.

The districts where these 11 government medical colleges were constructed include- Nilgiris, Thiruvallur, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Dindigul, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Ramanathapuram, Krishnagiri, Tiruppur and Virudhunagar. 

Sources have also stated that there will be a total accommodation of 1,450 seats in the 11 new medical institutes.

Meantime, the new campus of CICT has been fully funded by the Central government. It was constructed at a cost of ₹24 crores. It has three stories and is fitted with a big library, conference halls, a multimedia gallery and an e-library.

As per PMO's statement, the new campus has been built according to PM Modi's "concept to save and conserve Indian origin and advance classical languages."

The PMO statement further added that the new campus would provide an efficient working environment for the institute to facilitate classical Tamil across the world and in the nation.
