The Prime Minister is likely to lay the foundation stone for the much-anticipated Kokrajhar–Gelephu railway line project
Digital Desk: Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kokrajhar on 13th March to address a massive public rally at Bodofa Nagar Greenfield in Kokrajhar town, the headquarters of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
During the visit, the Prime Minister is likely to lay the foundation stone for the much-anticipated Kokrajhar–Gelephu railway line project. In addition, he is expected to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several new development projects of both the State and Central governments from Kokrajhar.
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, preparations are in full swing. On Monday, Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, Assam Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, BTR Chief Hagrama Mohilary, and BTR IGP Vivek Raj Singh, along with other senior officials, visited the Greenfield venue to review the arrangements and assess logistical and security measures.
Following their inspection of the rally venue and the helipad at the Greenfield site, Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah and Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota are scheduled to hold a meeting at the BTR Secretariat with senior administrative and police officials to discuss preparations related to the Prime Minister’s visit.
It is expected that around 1.5 to 2 lakh people will attend the mega rally on March 13. After the Kokrajhar event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Guwahati to participate in another official programme the same day. On 14th March , he is scheduled to address another large public gathering in Silchar.
