The Prime Minister announced her mother's death in an emotional tweet early Friday morning...

Digital Desk: Heeraben Modi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother, died at the age of 100 after being admitted to an Ahmedabad hospital.

The Prime Minister announced her death in a heartfelt tweet early Friday morning. "A wonderful century lies at God's feet... In Maa, I have always sensed that triad, which encompasses the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless Karmayogi, and a life dedicated to ideals."
He went on to say that when he met his mother for her 100th birthday, she informed him, "Kāma karō buddhithī, jīvana jīvō śuddhithī" (work wisely, live purely).

After knowing of his mother's death, the Prime Minister immediately left for Ahmedabad, and he is anticipated to virtually attend pre-planned celebrations in West Bengal from there.

PM Modi will kick off the Vande Bharat train at Howrah, Kolkata, and other Namami Gange railway development projects from Ahmedabad, as well as the National Ganga Council meeting, are set to take place as planned. According to sources, Prime Minister Modi may attend these events via video conference.

Heeraben Modi was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday due to her bad condition. She was admitted after suffering of breathing difficulties earlier this week.

PM Modi rushed to Ahmedabad as soon as he discovered that his mother was in the hospital. He arrived at the hospital about 3:30 p.m. and stayed for an hour and a half. Following that, the prime minister left for New Delhi.

Heeraben resides in Raysan village, near Gandhinagar, with his younger brother, Pankaj Modi. On June 18, the Prime Minister wrote a touching blog post about his mother, who began her 100th year of life.
