However, after many rounds of Russia-Ukraine discussions and two failed civilian evacuation attempts, Russia proclaimed a new cease-fire on Tuesday to perform a "humanitarian operation" beginning at 12:30 pm (India time).

bfc2 Digital Desk: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi today for rescuing her country's nationals as part of 'Operation Ganga,' alongside the stranded Indians who were being evacuated from war-torn Ukraine. So far, India has rescued nine Bangladeshis from Ukraine, as well as many Nepalese and Tunisian students, via special flights operated under the 'Operation Ganga' evacuation mission.  Moreover, one Pakistani student was also rescued by the Indian embassy and is now on his way to western Ukraine for further evacuation. Since February 22, India has been attempting to evacuate its nationals, primarily students, from Ukraine, but was having difficulty doing so in eastern parts of the country, particularly the northeastern city of Sumy, where nearly 700 Indian students had been stranded and were unable to leave despite repeated attempts. However, after many rounds of Russia-Ukraine discussions and two failed civilian evacuation attempts, Russia proclaimed a new cease-fire on Tuesday to perform a "humanitarian operation" beginning at 12:30 pm (India time). According to the centre, the Russian embassy in India provided a list of humanitarian corridors that it is willing to provide so that all 694 Indians stranded in Sumy were able to leave Ukraine. Notably, since February 22, around 18,000 Indians have been returned from Ukraine on special planes. The conflict in Ukraine began on February 24, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of its ex-Soviet neighbour, after which many Ukrainian cities have been under near-constant attack.
