Digital Desk: As many as three poachers have been arrested from the India-Bhutan border, reports emerged on Sunday.
According to reports, the operation was carried out jointly by the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) and Forest Department of Assam's Chirang district.
The arrested poachers have been identified as Biren Narzary, Noweswar Basumatary, and Nal Bahadur Magar. The three poachers who have been detained hail from Chirang's Jaipur Malibhita.
Reportedly, a hand-made pistol, rhino claw, skin, and bullets have been recovered from the possession of the accused.
The poachers who were apprehended have also admitted that they were responsible for the killing of two rhinos in the Manas National Park.
Earlier, two poachers were injured at the Manas National Park after a major firing incident. The incident occurred in the Musalpur Division of the national park.
The two poachers have been identified as Gopal Bahadur Magar and Dharmendra Vari.
A search drive in the national park was carried out in response to a specific tip-off under the supervision of Forest Officer Kameshwar Boro and Koklabari Beat Officer Dipank Das.
According to reports, the poachers were shot in the back and hands. They have been arrested and receive medical treatment at the Barpeta Medical College.
