Digital Desk: A minor girl from a tribal community was allegedly raped in the Samaddarpatti area of Nagaon town last Friday evening.
The assault occurred while the girl's parents, who work as daily wage labourers, were away from home.
According to reports, the victim's family was initially threatened to prevent them from reporting the crime.
However, the parents filed a formal complaint at the Haibargaon Police Outpost on Sunday.
Following the report, the police promptly arrested the suspect, identified as Faruk Ali.
The situation further escalated on Monday night when members of the suspect's family allegedly offered a bribe to the victim's parents, urging them to withdraw the case.
The police are currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
