Police: Assam woman dies after being forced to consume acid by her in-laws

Digital Desk: In a horrifying instance, a woman in Assam's Karimganj district allegedly died after being made to swallow acid by her in-laws.

The incident happened in the Karimganj district's Bhairabnagar neighbourhood, which is part of the Ratabari assembly constituency.

According to reports, the woman passed away after being made to drink acid by her husband and in-laws.

Sumna Begum has been identified as the dead. Shakeel Ahmed, the alleged husband, was detained by the police after the event.

According to a complaint made by the deceased's relatives, her husband and in-laws had been torturing her physically and emotionally for the past few days, Karimganj district Superintendent of Police Padmanabh Baruah told the media.
