The incident occurred in and around Dighali Pukhuri, where the man was found in an unconscious state wearing a blue shirt and half pants. He was walking his way to Panbazar when he suddenly collapsed. He was looking for water to drink

The deceased man has been named as Hiteshwar Kalita who is a junior constable of the 10th Assam Police Battalion. He was estimated to be 30-35 years old and a resident of Nalbari . At the scene a bag was discovered next to his body.

An investigation team from Panbazar Police Station reached the spot some time after the incident took place and began a preliminary investigation. The intense heatwave currently affecting the city is believed to have caused the sudden death.
