The deceased has been identified as Saifullah Qadri of Srinagar's Soura area.

Digital Desk: Terrorists shot dead a police constable outside his Srinagar home on Tuesday, police reports said.  Moreover, his seven-year-old daughter was also injured in the attack.

The deceased has been identified as Saifullah Qadri of Srinagar's Soura area.

"Terrorists opened fire outside Constable Qadri's house in Ganaie Mohalla in the Anchar area of Srinagar district," an official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

"Qadri and his daughter were taken to the nearby SKIMS hospital, where he died from his injuries. The child was shot in the right hand but is no longer in danger," the official added.

Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police (Kashmir range), expressed sadness over the shooting and stated that police teams had been dispatched to neighbouring areas to apprehend the perpetrators. "We'll get them soon," he promised.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Monday that they had apprehended five 'hybrid' terrorists from the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) organisation, three of whom were allegedly involved in the killing of a sarpanch in Baramulla district last month.

'Hybrid' terrorists are those who are not classified as terrorists but are radicalised enough to carry out a terror attack and then return to normal life.
