Digital Desk: Assam police have detained a total of 22 people from various parts of the state in connection to the paper leak incident for the General Science subject of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination.

Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh tweeted about the development on Tuesday. He also stated that arrests had been made in Guwahati, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sadiya, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia.

"Reference paper leakage case of General Science (C3) of HSLC examination being conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Assam - 22 persons have been detained at/from Guwahati, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sadiya, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia. Further lawful action as mandated by law is being taken against them. We remain committed to unearth the network of people involved in leakage of the question paper and the conspirators," his tweet read.

It should be noted that the Crime Investigation Department (CID), Assam, detained three persons on Monday for their alleged involvement in the paper leak incident.

Jyotirekha Borgohain, Herambo Kumar Das, and chauffeur Bindeshwar Tumung were the three people who were detained. All three work at Bhauri Devi Sarawgi High School.

On the other hand, the CID is questioning another accused, Chitra Roy, in connection with the case. However, he has not yet been arrested.

Meanwhile, SEBA Examination Controller Nayan Jyoti Sarma and Chief Controller Jimli Kakoty Saikia were also summoned by the CID.

The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) allegedly chose to cancel the General Science exam at the last moment on Sunday after the question paper was reportedly leaked on social media. Earlier, the HSLC English exam had been cancelled. According to a SEBA notice, the English test has been cancelled in one of the Cachar district centres.
