New Delhi: Refuting all the allegations of attacks by police on the protesting doctors here, the Delhi police additional commissioner, Central range Suman Goyal, stated that police didn't use lathi-charge nor apply force over the doctors.

Goyal said, “I would like to clarify that the police didn’t lathi charge the protesting doctors nor used any force upon them. We have high regards for the country’s doctors; we cannot think about hurting them.”

“In contrast, few policemen got injured and police vehicles were damaged.” she added.

Further, Goyal stated that on Monday at around 9.30 am, while protesting, some of the doctors jammed the ITO junction as they wanted to advance towards the Supreme Court to report their demands over postpone in NEET-PG counselling. However, they were stopped by the police and later, ADGP and Director General Health Service came to discuss their demands.

Meanwhile, today, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and the members of the Federation of Resident Doctors` Association (FORDA) held a meeting over the demands to accelerate the NEET-PG counselling.

In the meeting, the Union minister appeals to the association to call off their strike for the public interest.

But, after the meeting, the doctors have decided to continue their protest informed by FORDA president Dr Manish Kumar.

However, Kumar said that the final call would be taken after discussing with the members of the FAIMA and other RDAs.

Notably, the Federation of Resident Doctors` Association, AIIMS Resident Doctors’ Association and Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), in protest has announced a complete shutdown of health services on December 29.
