Digital Desk: All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has stated that power sector employees will stage a nationwide protest against privatization policies on February 1, 2022. "On the call of National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees & Engineers (NCCOEEE), Power Employees & Engineers across the nation will stage protest rallies against privatization policies of Central Government," an AIPEF statement stated. As per the statement, NCCOEEE is even determined that core panel leaders of NCCOEEE will meet the Punjab Governor on February 1. They will hand over a memorandum to him against the privatization of Chandigarh UT Power Department.  Furthermore, NCCOEEE core panel office bearers will address the sit-down demonstration of Puducherry power employees on February 2 at Puducherry. AIPEF Chairman Shailendra Dubey expressed, "On-call of NCCOEEE about 1.5 million Power Employees & Engineers across the nation will hold nationwide demonstration/ rallies on February 1 at all district office and projects against privatization policies of Central Government". Also Read: Eviction drive along Assam-Nagaland border turns violent, police use tear gas The primary demand of the power sector employees and engineers includes withdrawing the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021. Moreover, the employees have demanded to withdraw the chip decision to privatize profit-making power departments of Union Territories. The employees and engineers have also demanded implementing an old pension plan for all power workers recruited after unbundling of SEBs, regularising all outsourced power workers as the Telangana government has done. AIPEF Chairman Dubey further added that NCCOEEE core board leaders would reach Chandigarh on February 1. They will support UT Power Employees Strike against privatization.  Moreover, he claimed that such policies of making everything privatized would not be entertained.
