Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma stated that the price cuts are being implemented following the BJP's election promise...

Digital Desk: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma stated on Wednesday that the price of gas cylinders under the Ujjwala Scheme has been reduced to Rs 450, effective from January 1.

Previously, the scheme's LPG cylinder price was Rs 500.

As stated by Bhajan Lal Sharma, the price drop coincides with the BJP's election promise made before the recent state elections.

The manifesto, titled 'sankalp patra,' promised a Rs 450 per LPG cylinder subsidy for Ujjwala scheme participants as well as 2.5 lakh government employment.

In the clash between both the parties, the Congress had gone even further in its manifesto, stating that if elected, it would decrease the price of LPG cylinders under the scheme to Rs 400.

The previous Congress government, led by Ashok Gehlot, declared in April that families eligible for the Ujjwala scheme would receive 12 LPG cylinders per year for Rs 500 each.

Furthermore, the scheme's discounted rates benefited around 76 lakh low-income families.
