Imphal: Locals and hoards of students who came out to protest against Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal over the mysterious death of a medical student at the hostel of RIMS, have demanded CBI probe in the case.

22 year old Sanaton Athokpam, a 5th-semester MBBS student, was found hanging under mysterious circumstances inside his hostel room at the RIMS on March 15 last.

Family members of the deceased student have alleged foul play after both the hands of the student were found tied and bruise marks all over the body.

The protesting students demanded that the investigation be conducted by an independent agency like the CBI, they contended.
