The Punjabi singer had contested for the Punjab Assembly on a Congress ticket from Mansa but was defeated by Vijay Singla of the AAP.

Digital Desk: A sea of mourners said their final goodbyes to popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was cremated in his native village in Mansa district on Tuesday afternoon.

Mourners followed the funeral procession despite the sweltering heat, while Moosewala's father and mother stood on the tractor with folded hands, supporting their son on his last voyage.

The singer's body was taken for cremation after his post-mortem at Mansa Civil Hospital. As per the post-mortem report, Sidhu was shot over two dozen times.

Moreover, after the cremation, the singer's father, Balkaur Singh, removed his turban and held it out in his hands towards a sea of people, in what many believed was a moving gesture to show he has lost everything.

It may be mentioned that Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Moosewala, had been following his son's SUV when some unidentified men shot the singer 30 times from close range with an assault rifle on Sunday.

Notably, the singer’s father, in a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann yesterday, sought an investigation by a high court judge. He urged the Punjab government to enlist the help of the CBI and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the investigation.

"Shubhdeep's (Sidhu Moose Wala) mother is asking about her son, What reply should I give?" Mr. Singh wrote the letter in which he expressed his feelings. "I'm hoping to receive justice," he added.

The Punjabi singer had contested for the Punjab Assembly on a Congress ticket from Mansa but was defeated by Vijay Singla of the AAP.

Sidhu's security was also reduced from four to two commandos the day before he was killed. He didn't use his bulletproof vehicle on Sunday, and he also left his two bodyguards at home.
