He was a national award-winning music maestro and poet...

Digital Desk: Dr Bhupen Hazarika, pride of Assam, legendary singer, and "Bard of Brahmaputra," was born on September 8, 1926, in Sadiya, Assam. He was a national award-winning music maestro, poet, and filmmaker who was instrumental in bringing Assamese culture to the global stage. On November 5, 2011, aged 85, Hazarika died of age-related causes; today is the 13th anniversary of his death.

Among the songs that make up Hazarika's legacy are relevant to almost every Assamese, for example "Bistirno Parore" which embraces the idea of love and humanity. He was also renowned for many Assamese films he directed and won multiple honors, including Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award. Political leaders and admirers have paid tribute to his lasting influence on music and culture.

Referring to him as a unifier whose legacy reaches out to generations. Today we remember the immortal legend and cherish his presence through  his contributions to the nation across different generations.
