Digital Desk: India-origin According to news agency Reuters, British MP Rishi Sunak, one of the front-runners in the contest for the position of UK prime minister, received the most votes (88) in the first round.

Two candidates have been eliminated after Round 1 of voting to select Boris Johnson's replacement as the head of the Conservative Party and the UK Prime Minister. Nadhim Zahawi, the recently appointed chancellor, and Jeremy Hunt, a former Cabinet minister, are no longer in the running after failing to garner the support of at least 30 MPs.

The other prominent candidate, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, received 50 votes in the meantime.
