Tamulpur-based journalist Sri Utpal Deka conferred with the Protiva Borooah Memorial Award for his outstanding efforts in raising the community's needy and poor.


Digital Desk: Noted senior journalist Pradip Baruah, who also serves as publisher and editor of the renowned Assamese monthly magazine Prantik, has been honored with the RN Borooah & Protiva Borooah Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism.

Prasanta J. Baruah, the Convenor of the Awards Committee, announced for the years 2021 and 2022 today.

Furthermore, RSri Jitendra Kumar Choudhury, a seasoned journalist from Dainik Asam, has been recognized with the RN Borooah Memorial Award for his exceptional reporting on environment, tourism, and wildlife and nature conservation.

Additionally, Tamulpur-based journalist Sri Utpal Deka conferred with the Protiva Borooah Memorial Award for his outstanding efforts in raising the community's needy and poor.

These esteemed awards, which include a Rs. 50,000 cash prize and citation each, have been established in memory of RN Borooah, the late editor of The Assam Tribune, and his wife, Protiva Borooah.

The presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place at Vivekananda Kendra, Uzanbazar, at 4 pm on February 29.

Senior Journalist Hemanta Barman will chair the event, which will feature notable guests such as HR specialist Gautam Prasad Baroowah as the Guest of Honor and Animal Rights Activist Parbati Barua as the Chief Guest.
