"Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Mr. Sergey Lavrov, will undertake an official visit from today till 1 April 2022," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced.

Digital Desk: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will be in India for a two-day official visit starting today; this is his first visit since Moscow launched its invasion of Ukraine last month. According to sources, the focus of Lavrov's visit will be on India's purchase of subsidised Russian crude oil and the establishment of a rupee-ruble payment system for export growth in light of Western sanctions against Moscow. During the talks, India is likely to press Russia to ensure the timely delivery of various military hardware and components of the S-400 missile systems. Lavrov arrived in China on Wednesday for a two-day visit, primarily to attend a meeting of foreign ministers from Afghanistan's neighbouring countries. He is expected to arrive in New Delhi on Thursday evening after wrapping up his trip to China. The Indian foreign ministry provided no additional information on who Lavrov will meet during his visit.
