The Bongaigaon police have informed the singer Zubeen Garg that he will be fully protected during his performances...

Digital Desk: The heartthrob of Assam, Zubeen Garg is all set to attend and sing at the Bihu function as the Rongali Bihu first started from today onwards. The Bongaigaon police have given the singer of full security during his Bihu performances, despite the All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AAKRASU) demand for an apology from Zubeen Garg for allegedly making insults about Koch Rajbongshi.

Speaking to the media, Bongaigaon District Superintendent of Police Swapnanil Deka stated that AAKRASU, which had demanded the cancellation of Zubeen Garg's event, was advised to drop their demands and that the security element would be fully monitored by the police in any way.

Zubeen Garg will perform at Gandhimaidan in Bongaigaon on April 16 as part of the major Rongali Bihu celebration.

The All Koch-Rajbanshi Students' Union (AKRASU) urged that Zubeen Garg not perform at the cultural event.  ''We will not allow him (Zubeen Garg) to perform not only in Bongaigaon but throughout the state till and unless he apologises for his purported comment on a breakaway state of 'Kamatapur,'' an AAKRASU member informed the reporters.

''We have learned that he will perform at Bongaigaon Gandhimaidan. We would want to recommend that organisers inform Zubeen Garg that he must apologise or we will not allow him to perform,'' he added.

AAKRASU banned the artist on March 3 for allegedly remarking on a separate state of 'Kamatapur.'

"Because Zubeen Garg is a singer, he must act accordingly." He should not comment on a subject about which he is unfamiliar. Several committees have invited him to perform in our district, but we are opposed to this. And we barred him from performing in our district," AAKRASU's general secretary told the media about the situation.
