Guwahati: The festive season is here and with this Ramadan festival is fast approaching ringing in an air of cheer and excitement. It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is celebrated by people belonging to the Muslim community all around the world.

This year, the holy fasting month for Ramadan begins on April 13 and ends on May 12. This annual observance is regarded as one of the five pillars of Islam. It lasts between one sighting of the crescent moon and the next.

Amidst all this festivities, the people of the Muslim community observe a month of strict fasting in which the people have their first meal before sunrise known as Sehri (also called suhoor) and the other meal is Iftar, which is served Iftar.

Eating fibre rich diet will help one get energized and drinking enough water during Suhur to keep one self well hydrated. Minimum 2 litres of water can help one remain hydrated for the entire day during the fast that falls in the season of summer.
