He continued, "We must seize this chance and create a competitive advantage that will drive Northeast India as the New Engine of Growth for India."

Digital Desk: Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, and Ayush, on Monday unveiled a number of initiatives for the growth of the Bogibeel region near Dibrugarh in Assam.

The union minister launched the Bogibeel Riverfront Passenger Jetty in addition to laying the cornerstones for the building of two floating jetties at Guijan and Bogibeel.

In a statement, the Ministry of Port, Shipping, and Waterways stated, "The two floating jetties in the districts of Bogibeel in Dibrugarh and Guijan in Tinsukia would be built as cutting-edge terminals employing the most recent & cutting-edge technologies. IWAI is building both jetties over the National Waterways - 2 (NW-2), also known as the River Brahmaputra."

In addition to this expansion, there are plans to enhance the Riverfront property to include the construction of an Open platform, a restaurant, 8 bio-toilets, and 6 awnings. Over rail columns and an angle frame covered with WPC board flooring, the entire structure was built. The project is expected to cost 2.5 crores of rupees.

"The objective of our leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is to harness the potential of an economical and ecologically sound logistical corridor of Inland waterways," Sonowal said during a speech at the ceremony. The key that we are employing to harness the enormous potential of inland water transportation in Assam using National Waterways 2 and our river Brahmaputra is the PM Gati Shakti National Master plan.

He continued, "We must seize this chance and create a competitive advantage that will drive Northeast India as the New Engine of Growth for India."

The Union Minister further mentioned that the Ganga, IBPR, and Brahmaputra rivers will be used to travel more than 4,000 km between Varanasi and Bogibeel on India's longest river cruise service, which will start early the next year.

The Project Influence Area (PIA) for the Bogibeel terminal includes the districts of Golaghat, Jorhat, Sibsagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, and portions of Nagaland. It is located in the upper section of Assam, which constitutes the Dibrugarh.
