The woman claimed that on February 8, 2020, Mr. Chandran had planned a camp at Nandi Beach. She said that Mr. Chandran took her to a remote location against her will and touched her inappropriately during it.

Digital Desk: A Kerala court today granted bail to activist Civic Chandran and said that the allegation of sexual harassment will not stand if the victim was "wearing a sexually provocative outfit."

A young writer was allegedly sexually harassed by Mr. Chandran, a social activist, and author, on February 8, 2020, at a camp near Nandi Beach.

The 74-year-old Mr. Chandran included images of his accuser in court with his bail plea.

The Kozhikode Sessions Court reserved its ruling, stating that the woman was dressed in "sexually provocative clothing," disproving the accusation.

The court judgment stated that "the images produced along with the accused's bail application will reveal that the de facto complainant herself is exposed to outfits which have some sexually provocative one." Therefore, Section 354A won't be a strong case against the accused.

The court also expressed its surprise that the physically challenged Mr. Chandran, age 74, could impose himself upon someone.

Even if there was physical contact, the judgment stated, "It is impossible to believe that a man who is 74 years old and physically disabled can violently put the de facto complainant in his lap."

The woman claimed that on February 8, 2020, Mr. Chandran had planned a camp at Nandi Beach. She said that Mr. Chandran took her to a remote location against her will and touched her inappropriately during it.

On July 29 of this year, the police reported Mr. Chandran as a suspect.

The case, according to Mr. Chandran's lawyers, is "false" and "made up by the opponents of the accused." They also questioned why, given that the alleged offense occurred in 2020, it took more than two years to file the case.
