Digital Desk: The release date of Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming movie, "Jawan," is approaching. Although his return to the big screen is eagerly anticipated by his fans, the Bollywood actor recently fell into issue with one of his advertisements that promoted online gaming. A crowd gathered outside of SRK's Mannat neighbourhood home in Mumbai on Saturday, August 26, in protest of his support for online gaming apps. Police from Mumbai soon arrived in front of the actor's home.
Shah Rukh Khan has recently joined the A23 Games Platform as the Brand Ambassador, according to the online rummy platform A23. He shot an ad for the app in which he says, "Chalo Saath Khelein." Untouch Youth Foundation took the lead in the protest against it. The organisation announced that they would stage a protest against websites and gaming applications like Zupee and Junglee Rummy. The protesters also expressed their opposition to online gaming sites, claiming that they corrupt and mislead young people.
According to reports, the organisation made an official statement regarding the protest in which it claimed that "famous actors and actresses work in these advertising and they are working to mislead society. On behalf of the Untouch India Foundation, a protest will be organised outside Shah Rukh Khan's Mannat residence."
According to Krishchandra Adal, president of the Untouch India Foundation, "The new generation plays Junglee rummy. However, prominent Bollywood actors promoting online games are misleading the younger population. If someone is playing Junglee Rummy or gambling outside, the authorities will arrest them. The Bollywood stars also know it is wrong, but they are getting money so they are promoting them. By purchasing their products and watching their films, we help to make these celebrities popular. We demand an end to these advertising. These apps aren't on Google, they're on private websites instead, and they're illegal."
DEPLOYMENT OF POLICE OUTSIDE MANNAT
The Bandra, Bandstand home of Shah Rukh Khan was promptly guarded by Mumbai police. According to accounts, police detained 4-5 other individuals. Police from Mumbai are seen protecting the area close to Mannat in a video that has been circulated online.
