Digital Desk: Raj Kundra, husband of actress Shilpa Shetty, announced the separation on his X account, formerly known as Twitter. He added, without explaining, his tweet stated "We have separated and kindly request you to give us time during this difficult period."
While his strange post had many on the internet wondering if he had divorced his wife, only a few of users dismissed it as a promotional ploy.
In response to his update, a user asked in the comments section, "What does separate mean?" Divorce?" "It's sad and shocking news," commented another. "Is it a movie gimmick?" wondered someone, while another labelled it a "publicity stunt."
Shilpa, on the other hand, hasn't posted anything similar on her social media accounts.
Raj Kundra's Acting Debut
Raj's post comes just days after he released the teaser for his debut film, UT69. Raj will play the lead in the film, which is based on his experience in prison.
Raj Kundra was arrested and detained in Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail in July 2021 in an alleged pornography-related case. It was one of the year's most contentious issues. He was released from jail in September of that year after spending roughly two months there after being granted bail by a metropolitan magistrate. He was charged under relevant parts of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Information Technology Act, and the Prevention of Indecent Representation of Women Act.
Raj, who has long claimed that he was framed in the case, is supposed to be sharing his side of the tale through his film. The film UT69 will be released in theatres on November 3.
Raj recently shared how Shilpa reacted after he told her about his film proposal. "I told her that I have a script and was waiting for her response, he said to news agency News18. When I turned away from her, a flying chappal landed in my face. I guess she thought the notion was a little risky at first. Perhaps she assumed that the film would not be created."
"She was quite helpful. 'Tu acting kar lega (would you be able to act)?' she inquired. "I told her I'd be able to because I'd done some method acting by going to jail," Raj further stated.
Raj and Shilpa Shetty tied the knot in 2009. They have two kids named, Viaan and Samisha.
