A man in Andhra Pradesh was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a six-month-old baby...

Digital Desk: In a human act, a 40-year-old man in Andhra Pradesh's Vijayanagaram district was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a six-month-old baby, police said on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Boyina Verikkayya Dora, is a distant relative of the baby's family and resides in a neighboring village.

He attempted to sexually assault the baby on Saturday but fled after the family knew about the incident. A police manhunt led to his arrest earlier today.

"The baby girl has been sent for medical treatment, and the accused has been booked under the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act," a senior police official said.

The accused will soon be presented before the magistrate.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
