Digital Desk: Kolkata-based advocate Rajdeep Banerjee, representing Shyamkanu Mahanta, appeared in person for today's court proceedings.
This marks the lawyer's first physical appearance in the case, having participated virtually since the trial's inception.
During the session, a portion of the charge hearing was presented to the court, with Mahanta's wife, Anita Devi Mahanta, also in attendance.
Once the proceedings for Shyamkanu Mahanta conclude, the court is expected to move forward with the hearings of Sandipan Garg and two personal bodyguards of Zubeen Garg.
Shyamkanu Mahanta, organiser of the North East India Festival, has been identified as a key accused in the probe into the death of Assam’s cultural icon Zubeen Garg, who died by drowning in Singapore on September 19, 2025.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has booked Mahanta and others on murder charges, alleging financial and administrative irregularities.
